Geek Squad Academy at Home – 3D Design

Hello Tech Hungry Civilian!

In our latest do at home class we are excited to help you explore the wonderful world of 3D design. In this class, we’ll be building a house in Sketchup!  We’ll explore the Shape tools, Push/Pull, offsets, material choices, and if you’re feeling adventurous we’ll even make everything with real-world measurements in feet and inches. This project will take between 30 minutes and one hour depending on how detailed you choose to get, and will only require a computer with internet access, though a mouse is recommended!

SketchUp is an easy 3D modeling program for a wide range of drawing applications similar to those used in industries such as architecture, interior design, engineering, film, and video game design. Learning the basics of this program is a useful first step to understanding the process of creating and working on three-dimensional projects in a variety of possible future careers!

Like all Geek Squad Academy content, this activity was designed for students ages 10 to 18.

Requirements:

  • 1 computer with internet access
  • 1 computer mouse (recommended)
